It's Official...I am not a diabetic anymore...
I just had my annual physical from my PCP and my AiC is low enough to remove my diagnosis from the charts of being a diabetic.....after 19 years...and 17 years of insulin.....just before I had surgery I was taking over 200 units a day of insulin.....and my A1C was not as good as it was last week with NO INSULIN and NO DIABETIC Meds......is this an amazing surgery or what!!!!!

Thanks Laureen....but it is a problem learning to cope with curly hair......I stopped over at my daughter's house this morning after working out...with wet hair and she said....."it is so strange to see you with curly wet hair....it really is curly just like mine."...I said "yeah but you have had a lifetime to get used to it....I have only had two years and I still haven't conquered it." My girlfriend told me the other day..."I think your hair looks good a little longer...you should let it grow" I said "I AM LETTING IT GROW!!...I haven't had a hair cut since December"......and it just keeps curling up......LOL, Marti

Hi Marti - I don't post often, but had to tell you I share in the curly hair. It seems every hair I lost after surgery has came back in very curly, and getting curlier all the time. I always had a natural wave, but nothing like this. Have you discovered and "secrets" in the two years? It seems I am still fighting with mine - one day I think I have finally figured it out, the next day - nothing but fuzz!!!

Marti,
BIG CONGRATS ON YOUR MILESTONE!!!!! I am pre-diabetic so this surgery will be a life saver for me. You must be sooo happy the insulin is done. I used to give alot of it in the nursing home.
200 units is a lot but zero now!! Proof again that this surgery is the best thing for many people.

OH Wow Marti. I am so happy for you. My last A1C was 7.9. I've been taking metformin twice a day but that is minor compared to what you were having to go through. As you said, this wls is amazing.
No more needles and no more health threats due to diabetes!
Hugs! Donna L (finding_me) - I just know I'm here somewhere...

I was on metformin for about a year, but then they decided I didn't reallyneed it....and I stopped t aking it about 2 months ago.....now my NONFASTING glucose was 130 and my A1C was 6.0.....so that was good enough for my PCP......my last one was 6.1... You are goingf to be soooo happy with yo ur resutls. Hugs, Mati
